GIVE IT A TRY

I. Love. My. Job. How often do you hear that?

Youth ministry is the most fun, rewarding and freeing privilege I could possibly have (though, I might be biased.) I love working with teenagers. I love working in the Church (the pillar and foundation of truth.) I love diving into scripture only to re-surface with a treasure to share on Wednesday or Sunday night. I love planning fun trips and I love acting like a dork. But what I love most of all is being a "co-laborer" with God. It means that all of my blood, sweat and tears for our youth program is just a drop in the bucket compared to what God does for our teenagers. It means that I get to face obstacles and limits with a very big and powerful God in my corner. One of those things that will try to limit the work we do with teenagers is the lack of adult involvement. So now I'm asking God to bring us volunteers (knowing that he's already started laying it on some people's hearts.) If you think you might be one of these people, read through the opportunities that I've listed below and see if something interests you. If you find something or have an idea of how you might help, fill out the form at the bottom of this page. I love being a "co-laborer" in youth ministry. If you think that you would too, we'll set up a meeting to talk about where the best place to start would be.

Discipleship Leaders

Food Prep Team

Transportation Team

Small group meetings with a couple leaders and a handful of teenagers make a great opportunity to share practical Christian life experiences, offer accountability and pray through real issues. We need dependable leaders who will connect with the same few teenagers for an hour every week to build relationships, facilitate some good discussion and give support.

Hospitality Families

These are families that will occasionally open up their homes and create a great atmosphere for our teens to hang out together. It could be for something like a Super Bowl party, a game night, a barbecue or a small retreat.

This is our team of mechanics, drivers and everyday heroes. These are the guys that make sure our transportation is in safe shape before we take the teenagers on long trips. These are the safe drivers (with or without a CDL) that get us to our retreats and mission trips. These are the heroes that wait by the phone and are available to pick up our students should a van break down beyond repair and emergency transportation needs to be coordinated.

Drama Director

Do you have experience with drama or theatre? We could use your help coordinating a drama team that does skits for the congregation, drama evangelism or even tour with a performance.

Preparing food for a group of hungry teenagers can be a difficult task. This team does just that when we have retreats, trips or special events where meals need to be provided. If you have an understanding of basic nutrition and enjoy cooking, you could quickly become my best friend.

Sports Ministry

There are several opportunities to minister to teenagers in our church and our community using athletics. With the right volunteers we could host evangelistic tournaments or clinics, we could create friendly sports leagues for youth groups or even continuing to develop our Sunday night basketball games into a better outreach for our community.

Prayer Partners

Scholarship Provider

Wednesday or Sunday Night Volunteer

Our ministry to teenagers would be absolutely powerless and temporary if God's spirit were not at work in it. Therefore, even though our prayer partners may not spend any time with our students, they are still one of the most important components of our ministry. I regularly communicate our ministry's prayer needs to this team and ask that they faithfully and consistently spend time in prayer for our teenagers.

Over and over again, in several different youth groups each with different personalities I see that the most progress is made and the majority of life-change happens on trips and retreats. Unfortunately, not all of our teenagers and their families are able to pay to go on these trips. If you welcome the opportunity to help these students get somewhere where we expect them to have an encounter with God please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Those that volunteer on Wednesday and/or Sunday nights have committed to consistent and faithful ministry on the front lines. We welcome any age and every personality to work with us in what we feel is the most rewarding area of our youth program. These volunteers are expected to build strong relationship with our teenagers, provide structure, offer a model of Christian life and be willing to have fun! Please let me know if you'd like to work in our youth program at this capacity.
